The Cape Coral Soccer Association is excited to announce their involvement in The Big Six League as a founding member.
The following press release was announced Saturday, May 23, 2020:
FORMATION OF THE BIG SIX LEAGUE
May 23, 2020
Fort Myers, Florida – The Big Six League is a new high-level league being created in Florida. This will be an FYSA based league and its aim is to attract the top teams in the U11 and U12 girls age groups. This will be a merit-based team league, it is not a club-based league, and will use the YouthSoccerRankings.us as the main determinant for entry.
We are looking for U11 and U12 girls teams to apply now! The league will consist of six teams, The Big Six, and they will play a 10-game schedule that starts in August and ends in March.
For this upcoming season, we are starting both age groups of the league with Sunrise Sting, Cape Coral Cyclones and West Florida Flames. Based on the current rankings from YouthSoccerRankings.us, in the FL 2009 age group, these three teams are ranked 1, 2, and 4. In the FL 2010 age group, these teams are ranked 2, 3, and 6. These three founding clubs will not get automatic access each year. The top-ranked 6 teams that apply get the spots, each year.
The League is looking to add three more teams in each age group to round out the 2020-2021 season. Any other team in the state inside the top 6 is guaranteed a spot. The deadline to apply for the 2020-2021 season is May 30th. We encourage teams that are interested in high-level competition to apply as soon as possible.
To apply please send an email to [email protected]. Please include club name, contact person from club/team, and age group you are applying for.
