Renato Freitas

Holds a USSF Soccer B License, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma, and CBF with Brazilian Soccer Federation, CBF Academy C License, and CBF Futsal C license.

A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Renato Freitas has worked at Barton College, NC Women’s Soccer Program as an Assistant Coach. He has coached at many clubs and high schools in Southwest Florida, North Carolina and Tennessee. He was part of the TN ODP coaching staff.

Coach Freitas played at the Professional Youth Academies in Brazil for Clube Atletico Juventus (U15 Sao Paulo State Champion), Palmeiras (U16), and later transferred to Maritimo in Portugal (U17-U18). He also played collegiate soccer in US for Carson-Newman University, as a 4 years starter (and 3 years captain, C-N Player of the Year 2003), helped the Eagles secure three consecutive South Atlantic Conference Championships from 2003-05, and 2-Regional Championships 2003 and 2005 that included a pair of trips to the NCAA Elite Eight.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Business Administration from Carson-Newman in 2005 and later obtained a Masters in Education – Physical Education Pedagogy from East Carolina University in 2011.
