2021-22 Cyclones Tryouts – May 1-2, 2021

Tryouts for Cape Coral Soccer Association’s Competitive Soccer program – the CCSA Cyclones – are set to take place this weekend, May 1-2, at the Cape Coral Soccer Complex and the Pelican Soccer Complex.

Tryouts are FREE and require preregistration. Click below for further details regarding tryout schedule, rain dates, season fees, and more.

ALL teams tryout at Cape Coral Sports Complex except U19 boys and girls, which will take place at Pelican Sports Complex.

Coaching Update: Announcing New Coach Felix Acosta for 2021-22 Season

CCSA is excited to announce a new addition to the 2021-22 Cyclones Coaching staff. Coach Felix Acosta.

“We are thrilled to have Coach Felix Acosta back with CCSA. Coach Felix has traveled the globe in his quest for soccer knowledge. He is looking forward to sharing the knowledge gathered in Spain, Portugal, Germany, Costa Rica, Austria, Peru and France in the Cape Coral community that he raised his family in”.

Coach Felix Acosta has been coaching in SWFL for 15 years, involved with the development of recreational, competitive, and collegiate athletes. During his coaching education he earned his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) National “A” License, United Soccer Coaches (USC) D.O.C Diploma, (USSF) National Youth License, (NSCAA) Goalkeeping National Diploma, and Founder of Acosta Academy of Excellence(2014). His experience goes beyond SWFL, traveling nationally and internationally to compete, and educate himself about other soccer cultures. Some of these travels include:

  • Adidas International Training Program (2013); Real Madrid CF, Spain
  • USSF “A” License International Workshop (2015); FC Porto, Benfica, Sporting of Lisbon FC, Portugal
  • 45th Annual McDonald’s Cup and Cordial Cup (2016); Weil en Rhein, Germany and Kembs, France – First team from United States to compete in tournament, where the youth academies of Juventus, Chelsea, Olympique de Marseille, Bayer 04 Leverkusan, FC Barcelona, and eventual tournament champions Borussia Dortmund competed as well.
  • Took 2003-2004 age group boys to Costa Rica (2017) to compete in exhibitions against youth academies of professional clubs Alajuela, Belen, and Regional Select Players.
  • Austria (2018) Cordial Cup with the U15 Boys, some of youth academies that competed Borussia Dortmund, Red Bull FuBallakademie Salzburg, Ajax Amsterdam, FSV Mainz, Yokahama Japan.
  • Peru Dec 2018 and Dec 2019, Exhibitions games U15-U16 youth academies Alianza Lima, Universitario, Deportivo Municipal and Attend Coaches (ANEF) Seminario Internacional

Coach Felix hopes to continue using his knowledge and experience to properly educate as many youth athletes as possible, and guide them to understand, respect, and enjoy the game of soccer.

Coaching Update: Lenny Volberg Named 2007 Boys Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Lenny Volberg as Head Coach of the 2007 Boys Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Lenny was most recently the Head Coach of the 2018-19 U12 Boys Cyclones Team. Under his direction, the team was named USA League Champions.

Lenny holds a USSF D License as well as a National Youth License.

He is the current Head Coach Oasis High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team. During the 2016-2017 season, the team was named Class 2A District Champions.

Coaching Update: Mike Carmean Named Head Coach of 2011 Boys & 2003 Girls Cyclones Teams

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Mike Carmean as Head Coach of the 2011 Boys Cyclones Team and the 2003 Girls Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

In addition to these roles, Mike will be the CCSA Academy Director for the 2019-2020 season. He will work primarily with U8-U10 aged Cyclones players in this role.  

Mike holds a USSF National B License, USSF National Youth License, NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma, NSCAA National Youth Diploma, NSCAA State Goalkeeper Diploma and a Coerver Coaching Certificate.

Mike has worked as a Staff Coach for the Alabama Olympic Development Program (ODP) and is currently Active with the Georgia Olympic Development Program (ODP).

Mike served as Director of Coaching and Player Development for River City Soccer Club in Phenix City Alabama, winning State Cup championship as Head Coach in 2010 with U12 boys and State Cup runner up 2009 with U11 Boys.  He created the Red Star Soccer Academy and was one founders for the CFC Red Star Soccer Club.

Over his 25 year Coaching Career, Coach Mike has placed over 100 signed players for college scholarship. He developed 2 players that went on to be professionals: one MLS (New England Revolution), one WPS (Atlanta Beat).

Coaching Update: Oui Hunter Named 2001/2002 Girls Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Oui Hunter as Head Coach of the 2001/2002 Girls Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Oui was most recently the Head Coach of the 2017-2018 U17 Girls Cyclones Team. Under his direction, the team were named Runners Up of the USA Premier League and participated in both the Disney Showcase and the Orange Classic.

Oui holds a National Youth License as well as a USSF D License.

    • Champions USA Premier League and Chalice Cup  
    • Runner Up Weston Cup and Naples Cup Gold division
    • Presidents Cup Runner Up

    • At one point during that season, the team was ranked 4th in the state
    • 5 players from this team went on to play soccer at the collegiate level

Oui is a 20 year veteran of CCSA coaching both competitive Boys and Girls teams.  He was born in the Country of Thailand, where he was introduced to the game of soccer. He continued to play the game of soccer when arriving to the United States.

He successfully formed a U11 Boys team, continued on with that team until they became U18 with many seasons of league champions both USA league and South Florida United and tournament championship titles.

Coaching Update: Jason Duhaime Named 2004 Girls Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Jason Duhaime as Head Coach of the 2004 Girls Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Jason was most recently the Head Coach of the 2018-2019 U11 Boys Cyclones Team. Under his direction, the team were named Champions of the SWFL Tournament and Runner Up in the SWFL League.

Jason holds a USSF National D License and has been a CCSA competitive coach since 2013. Jason has also been working at Club USA camps since 2011.

Coaching Update: Anthony Martin Named Head Coach for 2002/2003 Boys & 2005 Boys Cyclones Teams

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Anthony Martin as Head Coach of the 2002/2003 Boys Cyclones Team and the 2005 Boys Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Anthony is currently the Head Coach of the 2018-2019 U14 Boys Cyclones Team. The team will be playing in the State Cup Sweet 16 this May.

Anthony holds a NSCAA Advanced National coaching diploma (equivalent to a USSF “B” License) and is on Florida ODP state staff.

Additional coaching career highlights include:

  • 2013-2014 U17 Boys Cyclones President’s Cup Champions, National Region III Champions and played in the National Final Four.
  • 2001-2012 Head Coach of the Men’s Soccer Program at Washington Adventist University NCAA Div II.
  • Worked under the direction of Bruce Arena (Head Coach, U.S. Men’s Soccer) in the summer of 1994 at the University of Virginia Camp of Champions.

Anthony assisted University of the District of Columbia Men’s Program and coached as a NCAA Div. II national clinician in the Youth Education through Sports “YES” program for inner city youths from 2002-2005.  In 2007, Coach Martin took WAU’s men’s soccer team to the USCAA National Championships in Michigan. That year Coach Martin was named Coach of the Year for Independent DII Schools in the NCAA.

As a player, Anthony played at the semi-pro level for the Great Nigeria Insurance Football Club where he was team captain during the 1990-91 season. He later went on to play at the D1 collegiate level for Liberty University, graduating in 1992 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management. Anthony received his Masters in Human Resource Development from Bowie State University in 2001.

Coaching Update: Terry Horan Named 2001 Boys Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Terry Horan as Head Coach of the 2001 Boys Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Terry was most recently the Head Coach of the 2017-2018 U13 Boys Cyclones Team. Under his direction, the team were named Champions of the Dimitri Cup.

  • 2016-17 U16 Boys Cyclones, Champions PSC tournament
  • 2015-16 U14 Boys & U16 Boys Cyclones Assistant Coach
    • U16 Boys were Champions of USA Premier League
    • U14 Boys were USA Premier League Runners Up

Terry grew up playing soccer in Ireland and toured North America and Canada in 1985 with Irish Semi-Pro team, St. James Athletic.  Terry was a player and later a coach for the New York Shamrocks.

Coaching Update: Chris Mathurin Named 2009 Boys Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Chris Mathurin as Head Coach of the 2009 Boys Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season. Last season, Chris was Head Coach of the U12 and U14 Boys Cyclones Teams.

Chris has over 20 years of experience coaching competitive/select, high school, and college soccer and currently holds a USSF National D License. Chris’s coaching career highlights include:

  • Coach at Lee University, Cleveland, TN (1998-2001)
  • Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach at Evangelical Christian School
  • Assistant Varsity Girls Soccer Coach at Bishop Verot High School
  • Competitive Soccer Coach at Redoubt Soccer Association, Chattanooda, TN (1998-2001)
  • Florida Premier Soccer Club & SWFL Competitive Coach for the past 12 years

Chris grew up playing soccer in the Fort Myers area. He played at the collegiate level for Mary Holmes College in West Point, MS, and Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Chris also played at the semi-pro level for the Fort Myers Manatees.
