Coaching Update: Eric Lamboy Named 2009 Girls Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Eric Lamboy as Head Coach of the 2009 Girls Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Eric most recently was Head Coach of the 2018-2019 U10 Girls Cyclones Team. Under his direction, the team achieved the following:

  • Champions United Soccer Cup and Alliance Cup Premier Division.
  • Runner Up SWFL League in the U10 BOYS division.
  • Runner Up Dimitri Cup and Disney Presidents Day tournament.

Eric will also be the Head Coach for Bishop Verot High School Girls Varsity Soccer Program for the upcoming season. He holds a USSF National C license; NSCAA Youth Regional & Advanced Regional diplomas; and NSCAA State & Regional Goalkeeping diplomas.  Eric was a member of the FYSA State Staff and Florida ODP Staff for the 2018-2019 season.

Eric has been involved with CCSA for past 15 years, has 11 seasons as a Cyclones Head Coach and was one of the Head Trainers for the Excel Program for 5 years. Eric worked for the FC Barcelona Camp in 2012. He has developed and coached numerous players at the youth level in Cape Coral who now play NCAA D1 and D2 soccer as well as state, regional and national ODP (Olympic Development Players).

Eric was Head Coach for Cyclones Girls team for the 2004, 2005 and 2006 seasons.  His 2006 team won the Presidents Cup and represented the state of Florida in the National Regional Tournament in Alabama. Four players from this team signed to play college soccer.

As a player Eric played four years Varsity at Saint Mary High in New Jersey and two seasons with Bloomfield College NAIA.

Coaching Update: Hugo Sorensen Named 2008 Girls Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Hugo Sorensen as Head Coach of the 2008 Girls Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Hugo most recently was Head Coach of the 2018-2019 U11 Girls Cyclones Team. Under his direction, the team achieved the following:

  • Champions SWFL League
  • Runner up Alliance Cup
  • Weston Cup and SWFL Tournament in the Boys Division.

Hugo holds a USSF National D License and has coached competitive soccer in the SWFL area for the past 28 years.

Coaching Update: Mike Fritz Named 2011 Girls Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Mike Fritz as Head Coach of the 2011 Girls Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Martin most recently was Head Coach of the 2018-2019 U8 Girls Cyclones Team. Under his direction, the team achieved the following:

  • Champions SWFL League U10 Division 2
  • Champions CCSA Winter Invitational U10 Division

Mike holds a USSF National D License and NSCAA National Diploma (equivalent to USSF C) as well as NSCAA Goalkeeper Level 1 Diploma. He is a National Strength and Conditioning: Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a National Academy of Sports Medicine:  Performance Enhancement Specialist.

  • 2017-18:  Assistant Coach U-12 Cyclone Boys
  • 2007-08:  Head Coach U12 Island Coast Soccer Association Girls
  • 2006-07: Head Coach U11 Cape Coral Cyclone Girls

Mike played for Adrian College, located in Adrian, MI, from 1982-1986. His daughter, Holly, is an alumnus of CCSA and currently plays D1 soccer as a senior at FGCU.

Coaching Update: Mario Perez Named 2010 Girls Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Mario Perez as Head Coach of the 2010 Girls Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Martin most recently was Head Coach of the 2018-2019 U9 Girls Cyclones Team. Under his direction, the team achieved the following:

  • Champions Thanksgiving Cup in the U9 BOYS Division

Mario holds a USSF E License and is in the process of obtaining his USSF D License. Mario played for Gateway Charter High School and has been coaching in SWFL since 2013.

Coaching Update: Martin Cardenas Named 2004 Boys Cyclones Head Coach

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is proud to announce Martin Cardenas as Head Coach of the 2004 Boys Cyclones Team for the 2019-2020 season.

Martin has been with the Cyclones since 2010 and most recently was Head Coach of the 2018-2019 U18 Boys Cyclones Team. Under his direction, the team was named Champions of the Miramar College Soccer Showcase and were Elite 8 Finalists in the President’s Cup.

Additionally, Martin is currently the head coach of the Mariner High School Boys Varsity Soccer Team. He began Coaching at Mariner High School as an assistant coach in 1993 and was later Head Coach of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team 1997- 2000.   During this time, Martin was named Lee County Athletic Conference Coach of the Year twice.

Martin was the Head Coach of the Boy’s Varsity Soccer Team from 1995-1997 and then resumed his role in 2000 – present. Martin has been named New Press All-Area Coach of the Year twice and is a 4-time All-State All-Star Head Coach.  From 2000-2006, Martin coached competitive soccer with San Carlos Park.

Under Martin’s direction, the 2018-2019 Mariner High School Varsity Boys Soccer Team achieved the titles of District Champions, Regional Finalists, and Lee County Athletic Conference Champions. Martin was awarded the 2018-2019 3-A Coach of the Year Award for District 18.

Additional coaching career highlights include:

  • 2015-16 U17 Girls Cyclones.  Division 1 Region Cup Finalist.
  • 2013-‘14 U18 Girls Cyclones Head Coach that had 3 players from the team play college soccer.  
  • 2010-‘11 U18 boys Cyclones head coach that had 5 players from the team play college soccer.  
  • 2015 and 2018 FACA 3A High School Coach of the Year.
  • Named FACA West All-State High School All-Star Coach 7 times.

Martin holds a USSF E License and is in the process of obtaining his D license. Since 2005, he had been a coach for the Elite Overnight Camp at the University of South Florida under head coach George Kiefer. Martin is currently Chairman of FACA District 16 (representing Lee, Collier, Charlotte, and Desoto counties), a role he has held since 2007.

Coaching Update: Mike Carmean Named Academy Director

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is extremely excited to announce that our very own Mike Carmean is returning to Southwest Florida and will be taking a position with CCSA as our Academy Director for the 2019-20 season.

Mike grew up playing for the Cape Coral Soccer Association and we are thrilled to have him return home to join the CCSA staff. He holds a USSF National “B” license as well as the NSCAA Director of Coaching diploma, the NSCAA National Youth Coaches diploma, the NSCAA State Goalkeepers diploma and a Coerver Coaching certificate. He will be an invaluable source for our players who strive to compete at the Olympic Development Program, as served on the ODP staff for over 15 years in Alabama, and is currently on the ODP staff in Georgia.  

Coach Mike will be the CCSA Academy Director, primarily working with U8-U10 players. This is a role he is very familiar with, as he created Red Star Soccer Academy in Columbus Georgia, which has become one of the biggest clubs in the state. Mike will also be the head coach for two of our Cyclones teams in the upcoming season – the 2003 girls Cyclones team and a younger aged team that has yet to be announced.

Mike returns to Southwest Florida after a 25 year coaching career in Alabama and Georgia, where his achievements in club soccer include US Club Regional Champions in 2004 and 2005 with U15/U16 girls, Alabama State Cup runner-up with U11 boys in 2009 and State Cup champion with the U12 boys in 2010, President’s Cup state champions in Georgia with the U13 girls in 2015. In addition, his Glenwood AL high school teams won back to back state championships in 2017 and 2018. He has helped to guide over 100 players in signing college scholarships, and developed 2 players who went on to play professionally – one in MLS with New England Revolution and one is WPS with the Atlanta Beat.

We are very proud to announce this latest addition to the CCSA staff and look forward to great things in the coming seasons as Mike puts his stamp on the program.

Coaching Update: Bajro Dizdarevic Named Director of Goalkeeper Development

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is pleased to announce that Bajro Dizdarevic will assume the role of Director of Goalkeeper Development for the 2019-20 season.

Bajro has trained many of the top goalies in the area that have achieved success in club, middle school, and high school soccer. He will now oversee goalie training for all Cyclones age groups, in addition to continuing his duties as Director of Group Technical Training. He will also coach the 2005 and 2006 girls Cyclones teams for the upcoming season.

Bajro played professional soccer for NK Krajisnik and NK Mladost in Bosnia for 8 seasons and NK Djakovo in Croatia for one season. He then coached at the club level in Iowa from 1999 to 2012, winning state championships at U9, U19, U13, U16, and U19 over that time span, as well as U11 Indoor State Championship in 2010. He has taken teams from Iowa and Cape Coral overseas to participate in training and matches with teams in Croatia and Bosnia. In his time with CCSA, his teams have won at every level of competition, including this year’s U14 girls who won the Florida Premier League (FPL) championship and have advanced to the US Club Soccer SE Regionals in Winston Salem NC this June. They were also in the FSPL and are still competing in the FYSA State Cup. His U19 boys team has competed in the FPL and FSPL leagues this year in addition to participating in the Disney Showcase and the Boys College Showcase in Raleigh, North Carolina, with several players signing to play collegiately.

Coaching Update: Tye Cole Named Assistant Director of Coaching

The Cape Coral Soccer Association is pleased to announce that Tye Cole will be taking over the Assistant Director of Coaching position for the Cyclones, and will continue in his role as Technical Director for the 2019-20 season.

His first year as the Technical Director has been a resounding success, with our youngest Cyclones teams achieving tremendous results at all levels of competition this season. Tye will continue to develop our coaching staff with new training and coaching skills that will allow our teams to achieve continuing success while developing players’ individual skills to compete and succeed. He holds a Premier Diploma and a Director of Coaching Diploma from United Soccer Coaches as well as a USSF ‘C’ license.

Tye had a successful run with his 1998 girls team, winning Presidents Cup and representing the state of Florida at USYS Regionals in 2013, advancing to the President’s Cup National Final Four. The team were champions of FSPL and advanced to the State Cup Elite 8 in 2014. He then took the 1999 girls team in 2016 and attended the WAGS showcase tournament in Virginia, and made it to the round of 16 at State Cup that year. In their senior season, they were undefeated champions of FSPL in 2017. The 1999 team went to the State Cup Final 4 and had 8 players receive soccer scholarships, including 5 division 1 players.

Tye is currently coaching the 2006 boys team that participated in FPL and FSPL for league play this season and won the Columbus Day tournament in Naples. His 2003 girls team will play in the finals of the FYSA President’s Cup next weekend. They also competed at the Disney Qualifier and the Orange Classic Showcase this season, as well as playing in FSPL for league play. He will coach the 2006 boys and the 2007 girls in the upcoming season.
